I've been doing this since 2010! 15 years and I'm the only one who reads this! :D
1. What did you do in 2025 that you'd never done before?
Collected unemployment. Flew domestic first class.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
No but I'm waiting for my word of the year to appear.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I can never remember offhand but probably.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. :(
5. What countries did you visit?
Stayed in the US but did go to New York state if that counts.
6. What would you like to have in 2026 that you lacked in 2025?
Consistency.
7. What date from 2025 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
November 6 - the day I got offered a new job.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Kept my family afloat despite not having any consistent income for most of the year. And then, after sending out 30 billion job applications, landing a new job that in many ways is better than my last one. Lost 40 pounds on a GLP!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not only did I not drive but I spent the year depressed.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing specific this year.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
The monthly vial of magic juice that helped me lose 40 pounds and counting.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Honestly? TayTay Swiftorama really surprised me.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Every politician.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Living life.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I went to a LOT of great concerts this year.
16. What song will always remind you of 2025?
"Do you have any kids?" "Yes I have one daughter, how 'bout you?"
17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Happier for sure.
II. Thinner or fatter?
THINNER!
III. Richer or poorer?
Poorer than last year because we used up a large chunk of savings to get by - but that'll change soon.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working lol
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being sad
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
We went to HMart! We're getting Chinese Dhaba later with Wendy and the fam!
21. What, if any, insight did you gain about yourself in 2025?
It's OK to use medication to lose weight, I'm not a failure. I struggled my whole life with ADHD and finally it makes sense.
22. What was your favorite TV program?
Ghosts, still. A lot of shows I liked were canceled this year, so I felt like I wasn't looking forward to much on TV. Drag Race, a little bit. Next Level Chef. And the latest Stranger Things surprised me with how much I actually liked it (I was going to skip it!)
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Actually I don't know if there's anyone NEW on the list.
26. What was the best book you read?
Everything Is Tuberculosis. You Gotta Eat. Aftertaste. How to Keep House While Drowning. Also several romancey books because they were very comforting (and...spicy, just a lil).
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I realized I could get certain things out of my system by making "mix tapes" using the various digital thingies (because old) and that was fantastic. Also I did a fun Spotify game with a friend and her friends and I definitely heard a BUNCH of new stuff that way.
28. What did you want and get?
A NEW JOB
29. What did you want and not get?
I can't tell you.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I never have the brain to watch movies anymore, which is ridiculous because I WILL binge-watch certain TV shows....
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I didn't really do anything. I am 52 now.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting a job sooner, I guess.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2024?
I got dressed EVERY SINGLE DAY (except one or two deliberate pajama days).
34. What kept you sane?
Threads, Dollar Tree, the fact that I had to focus on job hunting.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Ugh there's this one """famous""" person and I fell down a rabbit hole for a while. I kicked that habit though and may never go back.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
* waves hands *
37. Who did you miss?
Long-distance friends and all of my co-workers that I actually liked. (Also realizing that some of those co-workers were NEVER my friends and that missing them was a waste was eye-opening.)
38. Who was the best new person you met?
The new job crew.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2025.
The job market is bullshit. BULLSHIT. But if you can get the right combo of words on your resume, you might be able to get a job.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"Fuck you and your untouchable face."
